Letter To Isolation Journal - Day 15

Dear Isolation Journal,

She was only one of a few, so we easily spotted her coming back from the beach. It was shortly after 6:30 in the morning. She looked like she just woke up, as they all do. We watch them rush out there trying to catch the sunrise. You can tell she was happy and satisfied. The ones who rush out there alone are the ones who appreciate it the most. She started walking towards us like she knew us. She walked straight up to me. I couldn’t draw back, though I was slightly appalled. What did she want with us? We didn’t know her. She pushed my buttons. She pushed them again and then looked at her phone and pushed them again slowly and with more determination. She said something like, “Crap”. I couldn’t be sure. She went around to one of the others and reached over and jiggled them free. We couldn’t believe she had the audacity! It was broad daylight. She walked around to another one of us and pushed to no avail. I will admit that one is easy if we’re not careful. She must have known that. She came back to me and pushed my buttons again. She looked frustrated. No one was about except her. She texted someone and then leaned up against the side of me making me very uncomfortable. She did that for about five minutes and texted someone again. She walked around a little bit taking a good look around. She frowned a little and then looked right through me. She turned around, and stood frozen. She raised her hand and pointed her finger like she was counting. Her eyes got big as she looked back at me. She started backing up. Then she started walking away really fast. She almost got run over by a bike rider while she was looking up at us. He was pretty mad. He said something we couldn’t decipher, as he had to swerve around her. She didn’t go very far. She walked up to a different one of us, pressed their buttons and walked right in. We never saw or heard from her again.

Sincerely Yours,

The doors and windows of the wrong house

The writing prompt today is to write about something funny that happened to you from the point of view of an inanimate object that bore witness to it. If you’d like to read what had happened from my point of view, I shared the original story here.
