"His mom had to pawn his Xbox so they could move!"
The story you are about to read is true; only a name has been changed to protect the innocent.
Self Inflicted PMS...
I'm supposed to write something intriguing here to make you want to read this post. Here's the thing... I am so beside Myself, ME can't think of a doggone thing. One of us needs to wave the white flag.
Life is too short to sweat the small stuff...
I know my title is so cliché. I couldn't think of a better truth. I have been trying to write about my class reunion last weekend. I wanted to write about how I stressed myself out about the 4-inch heels I had planned to wear, how I was happy to fit an outfit I wore to a Christmas party in 2008 and how I managed to put on mascara without sneezing or poking myself in the eye.
Man to Man...
One time before kids (BK) I was in a store and a man started talking to me, asking if I was married. I showed him my ring and nodded but he kept talking. He went as far as asking if I was happily married. Before leaving the store he caught up with me again and said, "Tell your husband I said he's a lucky man."
Not that there's anything wrong with that...
It had me at "Relaxing"...
Christopher is still scared of the dark and sleeps with his lamp on for half of the night. Sunday night he seemed to be having back to school anxiety and must have turned his lamp back on about five times. I wanted to make him smile and fall asleep peacefully on the night before school.
I'll worry about that tomorrow...
I freed my mind from worrying about what I should do, what I haven't done, what hasn't happened yet or how to make it happen.
Throughout the year moments will come to me where I'll say, "If I just had a day to myself..." Ha! So much for that. After I realized I wasn't getting anywhere forcing inspiration in my quiet time, I downloaded an audiobook and proceeded to clean.
Sunday Breadcrumbs...
I am introducing a blog hop today. It's been around for awhile, but I've just recently heard about it since, my blogger friend Rosey is one of the hostesses over there.
There's no prompted theme, so I thought I'd just leave breadcrumbs to posts I've shared this week.
Call me "Pam"...
For the first time in the history of Here's the thing... I have a guest blogger! I am excited to introduce you to someone who is a big part of my life. She's my best friend and she's got a little time on her hands now. I hope to have her back here from time to time.
I've got a hangover from a blog high...
A brain dump about blogging while trying to get to the point without crying about the best day of my blog life.
The Key to Empathy is Knowledge...
Today I want to introduce a wonderful blog series called Our Land where empathy & wonder rule. Our Land began as a weekly special needs series and I was drawn in from day one. The contributors have been teachers, an adult with cerebral palsy, and mothers of special needs children.
Reading with Benefits...
Today I finished an excellent book. Over the course of completing this book, I cleaned a fish tank, folded laundry, cleaned bathrooms, put dishes away, mopped floors, cooked, and drove for approximately 4 hours.
How do you suppose I managed that?
OverDrive Media Console: Read & Listen for Free
I believe that OverDrive Media Console is one of those best kept secrets. I certainly didn't know it existed until I took my son to our local library earlier this year.
My son was interested in the children's series authored by Dan Gutman and preferred the paperbacks to electronic reading.
Social Profiling: Who are you?
Most of us know each other pretty well. But sometimes on a blog hop day, I might have some new commenters. Detective work on a blog hop day is very time consuming. Here's the thing... ain't nobody got time for that. I want to "disqus" how easy it would be for commenters to return the favor. Join me on Tech Bytes where I will use a regular guy from NYC as an example.
Disqus: Adding your profile
I have been using Disqus for about two months now. It's definitely a keeper. I like it - 'nuff said. However there are a few things I'd like to change but have no control over. I will use blogger friend Phil Holtberg of The Regular Guy NYC, to illustrate.
5 things men notice about women...
I originally wrote this as a guest post last year on a website that no longer exists. Now when you search this title with my name, you get a page with some booby women on it. So glad I kept a copy. We will have to share the heck out of this post to get my name associated with THIS page. Okay?
Communicating Instinctively: It's a thing...
Did he just say what I think he said? Had learned it from Transformers? Had it been from Kindergarten? Did the new friend say it? Had he overheard his dad say it? What bothered me most was how experienced he sounded saying it.
Slapping Eve is on my bucket list...
You know PMS is bad when you daydream about going back to THE BEGINNING. You get pleasure from the thought of standing behind the Tree of Life with a bunch of your home girls waiting to jump Eve.
A drop in the bucket...
This is not a finish the sentence post.
It's about BlogHer...
it's like one of those big fancy corporate conferences, where you walk around, sign in, show your face, collect vendor junk and then go enjoy the beach, except...
10 Things I'm Thankful For... (illustrated)
I'm participating in a blog hop this weekend. I tried to think of some warm and fuzzy stuff. But as I was looking at Twitter, Facebook and the photos in my phone from this week, I found ten other things.
