SOC: I don't wanna

Today’s Writing Prompt: What are the things in your life right now that you just don’t want to do?

I don’t wanna go back to work. I imagine if my husband knew in October 2008 when he told me I could quit my job so that I could finish my degree, that today I still wouldn’t have a job...well I imagine he would have kept his mouth shut. However, I can not imagine that I would be the person I am today. In this time I’ve accomplished a lot of things. I did finish my degree by age forty (my goal). I’ve been a better mom, a better wife, a better business partner to my husband, and a better me to myself. I’ve learned how to cook a few things and I've been flexible to travel. In this time I started writing again and I’ve published a book. I have another book started, but the need to go to work has run an interference. I have not found a job. I don’t wanna be in that place again to hate my life because of my job. I don’t wanna work for people that don’t care about my happiness. I don’t want to lose myself again for a paycheck. I don’t wanna work for corporate and I don’t want to work for the government.

Here's the thing...I don’t want any old job, and seemingly that’s what waiting for my resume and a positive attitude. Sigh.

This 5 minute Stream of Consciousness was inspired by: Today’s Writing Prompt: What are the things in your life right now that you just don’t want to do?

It’s five minutes of your time and a brain dump. Want to try it? Here are the rules…

  • Set a timer and write for 5 minutes.
  • Write an intro to the post if you want but don’t edit the post. No proofreading or spellchecking. This is writing in the raw.
  • Publish it somewhere. Anywhere. The back door to your blog if you want. But make it accessible.
  • Add the Stream of Consciousness Sunday badge to your post.
  • Link up your post.
  • Visit your fellow bloggers and show some love.
