A Rookie Mistake...

Confessions of a first time author...

This kid friendly cover is not a children's book...

This kid friendly cover is not a children's book...

Confession 1:  I made a mistake with the title and cover of my book. People are confused about who the book is for. I've had trouble marketing it and I've said,  "It's not for children"  more than I care to admit.

Confession 2: This is the SECOND edition of this book. The original book, which is no longer for sale was square. I changed the shape and added in some stories thinking that'll do it!

Confession 3: Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the illustration. However, when I had this cover in mind, I didn't think about how I would market it.

Recently someone reached out to me and asked if I would be willing to read this to a group of children at a Literary Festival. She thought I was a children's author. I thanked her for the opportunity and told her more about The Christopher Chronicles. She responded...

"I apologize. I thought it was a Children's book. I guess my mind was thinking it was like a Judy Moody book. I just looked at the title without reading it..."

Confession 4: Sigh...

Confession 5:  I'm scared of publishing the next book because I'm looking at it in a three strikes kinda way. It's a myth that self-publishing is easy. You carry your ideas around in your heart for months to years. You give birth to it. Then you have to raise it.

Pages from my book contain funny things you might not want your kids to repeat...

Commercial: Blogger friend Rosey has the square book AND the second edition! She reviewed both of them! Rosey has a giveaway going until the end of the month. Go check out the review! sorry to exclamation point you to death

Here's the thing...

The Christopher Chronicles is a coffee table/bedside book. This would be a great gift for:

  • Mothers, Aunts, Sisters
  • Fathers, Uncles, Brothers
  • Baby showers
  • Pastors
  • Grandparents
  • Sunday/school teachers
  • Anyone who needs a bright spot in their day - just because.

This week I am participating in a mini blog challenge where Monday's prompt is a Blog Commercial or Confessions of A Blogger.

Tuesday's post is going to be controversial! Oh my!
